Kairos Women+ is a community-led organisation. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Our volunteers influence every aspect of Kairos Women+: governance, delivering groups, delivering food to women in the community, developing new projects, reviewing new projects, developing training and even searching for our space. We believe in volunteering and offer an in-depth training package, roles focussed on your interests and support with employment such as references and links to employment and voluntary opportunities. We provide supported roles to women and non-binary people with additional needs and value the unique contribution of every volunteer.
Right now, we have a team of 30 volunteers from all walks of life. They are like an extended family, chatting over WhatsApp every day and supporting each other through difficult times. If you’re looking to give back to your community and find a group of like-minded women at the same time, we’d love to hear from you!
A Kairos Women+ volunteer is someone who is accepting, compassionate and kind. We are most interested in your values even if you have no prior experience working with communities. We want to know you will be kind and welcoming to every woman and non-binary person who arrives at Kairos Women+, no matter what their experience or situation. Our roles are flexible so you can give as much or as little time as you like, most of our team volunteer once a week. Do you believe in equality, diversity and inclusion? Are you passionate about the community-led approach? Do you want to work towards building a world where women achieve their potential? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we want to hear from you! Get in touch via our contact form.
A volunteer role at Kairos Women+ is very varied and we will try and match opportunities to suit your passions and interests. You might be supporting in-person groups such as our weekly drop-in, making tea and greeting new women. You might develop projects in our Working Groups including the Mental Health Group, Podcast and Kairos Chronicle. You might deliver food to local families in need or facilitate groups. You might become a Friend of Kairos and support a woman one-to-one in our more advanced volunteer role. You might join our Equalities Collective to campaign for change or join Kairos Museum to influence the representation of women in history or attend consultation sessions with universities and organisations. You might have your own ideas of what you’d like to do – even better! The possibilities are endless when it comes to volunteering with us and we want to make your experience as valuable and fulfilling as possible.
Our recruitment is open all year round so you can get in touch for the application form any time you like. We try to keep our recruitment process very simple so it is as accessible as possible. If you would like support to complete the form we can meet with you one-to-one. We will invite you for an informal interview between January-February with training starting in March every year.
We are committed to our volunteer team. This means we offer a variety of in-house training workshops as well as sessions from partners. When you first start you will complete a Volunteer Induction and Supporting Women Training. These sessions will give you the knowledge and skills to support Kairos activity.
We also offer a full Equalities Training Package for free to our volunteers, some of which is open to partner organisations and the wider public for a small fee.
