My name is Liz and I am a part-time Project Worker at Kairos. I came to Kairos in 2018 as a participant and moved on to become a volunteer, getting involved in different teams and projects. In early 2019 I was offered a traineeship at Kairos with Invest in Renfrewshire before starting as a Project Assistant in September 2019 and eventually becoming a Project Worker in 2021.

I support lots of groups and women+ in the community including those in the Recovery Space. I am myself in recovery from alcohol addiction and have been sober since October 2018. All the love and support I have received through Kairos and all the women+ there have helped me immensely in my personal recovery. I have never been judged or made to feel like I am not enough. I always tell people that I don’t know where I would be right now if I hadn’t found Kairos. It was definitely my “opportune moment for change” when I found Kairos.

In my “previous life” I worked for Royal Bank of Scotland for 23 years and have also worked as a Postwoman and have done a few other jobs too. I was devastated when my husband and the love of my life passed away in 2017 and I now live with my wee dog Lola in Johnstone where I was born and have lived all my life.

My life experiences have made me the person I am today. I do not judge anyone. I recognise that we all are on different paths and have lived through different experiences. However I truly believe we can all relate in some way to each other and support and offer kindness to each other if we listen and open our hearts and minds to each other.
